Here's how a multimeter can help diagnose intake manifold absolute pressure sensor problems. Test the power cable. Set the multimeter to the voltage setting and turn on the ignition switch. Next, connect the red pen of the multimeter to the power cord of the absolute Pressure Sensor in the intake manifold. Then connect the black wire to the battery's ground terminal. Check that the voltage reading is around 5V. 2. Test the ground cable. Keep the ignition switch on and place the multimeter on the on-off tester. Connect the two wires of a multimeter together. Then connect the ground wire of the absolute pressure sensor on the intake manifold with the red pen of the multimeter and the ground terminal of the battery with the black pen. If you hear a beep, the ground cable is normal. 3. Test signal cables. Set the multimeter to the voltmeter setting. Connect the red marker of a multimeter to the signal cable, and ground the black marker. When the ignition switch is on and the engine is off (because there is no air pressure), the signal line should show a reading of about 5V. Ideally, the multimeter should read around 1-2V with the engine on. 4. IAT wire test. Place the multimeter in the voltmeter setting and turn on the ignition switch. Next, connect the red pen of the multimeter to the IAT sensor and the black pen to the ground wire of the intake manifold absolute pressure sensor.
