Pneumatic and Hydraulic High Pressure Sensor usually have a measurable pressure range - for example, 0 to 200 bar. They can also specify a safe pressure limit beyond which the unit may fail, and a temperature range within which they will provide accurate readings (e.g. -40ºC to 85ºC). Most pneumatic and Pressure Sensor will also specify a margin of error - for example, ±0.05% - indicating the sensor's level of accuracy. Other options may include input and output connection types and output signals, as well as physical specifications such as materials (including parts in contact with liquids), dimensions, and thread sizes. Hydraulic systems, in particular, are used in harsh and challenging environments of extreme heat, water, dust and even radiation. Hydraulic systems on heavy vehicles may be subject to physical shocks and vibrations, as well as sudden spikes in pressure. Therefore, the hydraulic pressure sensor needs to be able to withstand these conditions and still function properly.
