Hydraulic system has a wide range of applications in our daily life. Common applications of hydraulic systems include lifting, clamping, and gripping. The hydraulic system will use the pressure of an incompressible fluid to transmit power. In most cases, a pump is used to remove the fluid from the reservoir. These are simple, safe and cost-effective systems that can be easily and accurately controlled. The ability to provide constant force regardless of speed is an advantage of hydraulic systems. Open loop hydraulic system and closed loop hydraulic system are two types of hydraulic system. In an open-loop system, when the actuator is idle, there is fluid flow, but no pressure. For closed loop systems, there is pressure on the fluid while the pump is running. The fluid will flow continuously between the pump and the actuator without entering the closed loop system's storage tank. For open-loop systems, fluid flows from the actuator to the reservoir and fresh fluid flows to the pump inlet. Open-loop systems use a directional control valve, while closed-loop systems use an additional pump called a charge pump or feed pump. The advantage of open loop hydraulic system is less heat, the advantage of closed loop hydraulic system is accurate drive response.
